First visit

Your first visit

A first visit is about 75 minutes, and it starts with a conversation, not a needle.

Wear something comfortable that lets us reach your neck, shoulders, hands and feet. If you wear makeup, we will give you a way to remove it before we begin.

What to bring

  • A list of the medicines and supplements you take

  • Any questions you have collected

  • Your skin routine, if you would like to talk it over

The hour, step by step

How the visit goes

  1. 01

    Step 1: Arrive and settle

About 10 minutes: a form with your name and contact details, a glass of water, and a chance to ask anything.

  2. 02

    Step 2: Talk

About 15 minutes: your sleep, your stress, your skin routine and what you hope for. We tell you what we plan.

  3. 03

    Step 3: Treatment

About 40 minutes lying down, with a blanket if you like. Your acupuncturist tells you where each needle will go before it goes in.

  4. 04

Step 4: A plan, and the fee in writing

About 10 minutes: what we suggest next, and what it would cost, if you ask. You decide.

Tell us first

Tell us if any of these are true

None of them is a reason to stay home. They are reasons to plan the visit together.

  • You are pregnant

Some points are avoided in pregnancy. We plan with you, and may ask you to check with your doctor first.

  • You take blood thinners

Needles can bruise more easily. We use fewer points and take more care.

  • You have a pacemaker, a bleeding disorder or have had lymph nodes removed

We change the plan, and may ask you to check with your doctor first.

  • You are nervous about needles

Say so at the start. We can begin with gua sha or facial massage and go no further than you want.
