Questions

Questions people ask first

Does it hurt?

Many people feel a brief pinch or pressure at some points, and some feel nothing. Tell Alexandra if anything is uncomfortable, and she adjusts or removes the needle.

Are the needles clean?

Yes. They are sterile and used once. We open them in front of you and put them in a sharps container afterward.

Is facial acupuncture a facelift?

No. It does not lift, fill or reshape anything. It is a quiet hour with fine needles and gentle hands.

Will it change how my skin looks?

We cannot say. Some people notice how relaxed their face feels afterward. We make no promises about your skin, and results vary.

How many visits should I plan for?

Come once and see. After that we suggest a rhythm, which is our plan for you and never a promise, and you decide.

Does insurance cover it?

Facial and cosmetic visits are usually not covered. We are out of network, and we give you an itemized receipt in case your plan reimburses acupuncture for other reasons.

Can I use my HSA or FSA card?

Many cards work for acupuncture, but ask your plan administrator before you book.

What should I wear, and should I eat first?

Wear something comfortable that lets us reach your neck, shoulders, hands and feet. Have a light meal beforehand, and come without a heavy face of makeup if you can.

Can I come if I am pregnant?

Tell us if you are pregnant or think you might be. Some points are avoided, so we plan with you and may ask you to check with your doctor first.

Will I have to stop my medicine?

No. Tell us about everything you take, and tell your prescriber you are coming for acupuncture.

What does it not do, and when should I see a doctor instead?

It is not care for a skin condition, and it does not replace your doctor or dermatologist. See one first if a rash, a changing mole or any new symptom worries you.
